OUR STORY

Beyond a Storm

Hurricane Matthew, the Lowcountry’s hurricane of 2016, brought more than heavy winds and rain.  For us, it brought an awakening. We never dreamed what God had in store for us with a potential of tragedy for wind and rain.

Shane, Navy Seabee veteran and carpenter for most of his life, had always helped people with his trade. After moving to Charleston, he worked as a truck driver and did home repairs on the side.  After Matthew came through, we got a call that a lady in his mom’s neighborhood had a few shingles needing replacement.  We loaded the truck and drove to her home. One job became two; then, three. By the end of the day, I was manning two phones and taking names of people who needed shingles on their roofs repaired.

We went home that night exhausted but fulfilled. Helping people comes naturally to Shane. His  regular job was closed due to weather, so we kept working the entire week to help repair storm damage. He called his job and asked to use vacation for the next week so we could try to get more homes finished. Shane hated seeing so many rogue contractors charging exuberant fees taking advantage of those in need.

At one point, a homeowner stopped Shane and asked if he was a handyman. Shane said, “No.” The stranger prayed for him, and then, quoted Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This man had no idea we were already discussing taking Shane’s work full-time and starting a business.

We talked more about it and ran into more people offering prayer and encouraging us to take the leap. We went to church on Sunday and had the preacher pray for us and our decision. The overwhelming peace that came over Shane was obvious.

Later, another wise believer quoted the same scripture to him. and we knew immediately that God was pointing us toward a new venture. October was our first month in business, and we have been overwhelmed with blessings and amazing people on our journey.

We strive to provide the best customer service, fair and honest prices, quality work and if we can leave you with a smile, we have earned more than an income.  We love our veterans and give them the respect and honor they deserve in our business.

Nailed It! wants to be the name you call for all your home repair and improvement projects. Our clients are a blessing to us, and we hope to be a blessing to them.
